Attuned to the fractures running through our society, Celine uses the codes of cinema to transgress the world around her and slip into the fault lines of those she looks at. It always begins by showing a story. Stepping back and finding the time of the world. There is that animal impulse that brushes against urgency and cradles danger. Gathering the residue of action, touching humankind, sketching the faces of wounds or violence, getting as close as possible and drawing out nothing but the matter itself. There is imminence, the body within a territory, immersion in distant and unknown times that nonetheless knock at our door. And this pictorial, organic aesthetic that plunges us into an almost palpable atmosphere, inviting the viewer into a world of troubled poetry. The recurring motifs of her work – the fault line, the night, the sacred – run through her series like invisible threads, exploring the areas of shadow and light in the human condition. Her work has been shown at the Rencontres internationales de la photographie in Fez, the Billboard Festival in Casablanca and Istanbul, the Marrakech Biennale and the Paraguay Biennale, the Kassel Festival, the Tbilisi Festival, the Villa Pérochon, the Festival du Regard in Cergy, Paris Photo, the Mudima Foundation, the Manuel Rivera-Ortiz Foundation and the Promenades photographiques in Blois.
