Baudouin Mouanda
Le ciel de saison #6
Description
Born in 1981, Baudouin Mouanda lives and works between Brazzaville and Paris. Since 1993, he has photographed the joys and wounds of his country with a gaze that is both poetic and uncompromising.
With Ciel de saison, he looks back at the floods that struck Brazzaville in the middle of lockdown. Drawing on his memories and on testimonies he gathered, he reconstructs real-life scenes with the participation of local residents. In a flooded basement, each person brings their own furniture and poses to tell their own story.
A family eats lunch with their feet in the water; a girl discovers her bedroom underwater: familiar gestures are repeated in a world turned upside down. From this meeting of staging and lived experience come striking images, in which strangeness reveals a very concrete reality: that of lives made more precarious every day by climate disruption.
