Stéphane Lavoué
The Kingdom #3
Description
It was by chance, one evening, following the winding curves of North Ridge Road, that Stéphane Lavoué arrived in Vermont’s North East Kingdom, without feeling he had crossed any border. Intrigued by the idea of a kingdom at the heart of the United States, he set out on a journey to its far reaches, from the shores of Lake Memphremagog to the slopes of the Green Mountains. There he came across abandoned houses, victims of industrial decline, and met young utopian farmers who reject mechanization, bear hunters armed with bows, taxidermists, the princess of the slaughterhouses, an old explorer and the woman with the log. From farm to farm, his road became a royal quest, and he asked each of them the same question: but where, then, is the King?
